While my “day job” is now in real estate, the majority of my career has been in Information Technology, and that’s where much of my passion remains. I continue to draw on my 20 years of technology experience in my day-to-day work, and fortunately the real estate industry is flexible, so I’m open to discussing interesting opportunities for side work as a technology consultant.
These days, although I could implement a reliable network for you, or troubleshoot a stubborn hardware or software problem, I’m mainly inspired by bigger, multi-dimensional projects. I love optimizing systems and processes that involve technology across the spectrum, from hardware through software and user experience. I excel at research and creative thinking, and tend to focus on low-cost, highly effective solutions, rather than monolithic approaches centering on large corporate tool chains and workflows.
Past successful projects have included video livestreaming implementation and development, migrating a 20k subscriber newsletter and website to a new toolset/platform, and recipe management systems for a pop-up baker. And that’s just to name a few of the diverse projects I’ve tackled! But for me, the joy in the work lies just as much (if not more) in the people I get to work with and support as it does in the challenge and novelty of the technology problems themselves. I love little more than the moments I have had of hearing the genuine relief in a client’s voice as we finally solve something that has been a difficulty or expense (or both!) for them for years. Taking the burden out of technology and letting small business owners get back to focusing on what they love is what it’s all about!
